My ID doctor moved to another state years ago. The doctor I was placed with is extremely rude and doesn't listen or consider my concerns. I approached them with an issue I was having and they basically brushed it off like it didn't matter. My primary doctor doesn't know much about HIV and can't talk to me about any related issues. I have no idea what my VL or CD4 counts are. I've just given up on the medical community.
During my March " routine " checkup my id PCP told me she would see me one more time because she was retiring in August of 2024 . I was shocked to say the least . I have had her as my id PCP over 30 years . She has seen me thru the deaths of my parents and husband . We learned that with each other we did not have to pull punches to get things done . She has not just been my PCP but we grew as people And I am happy to say that she is actually friend because of our intraperitoneal relationship.
This is what happens when we allow insurance companies and investment companies to take over our health system, because they collect on both ends and don’t care about the doctors and nurses
The best doctors with bedside manners are gone. I continually go through many medical individuals who either relocate, retire, immigration issues or just quit. This state, Rhode Island, has some of the best educational infrastructure with worst economy, worst crime, and even worse medical and housing. For years in my mind, if we had a challenge of equal payment for all care, maybe true Healthcare would be available for everyone with no favoritism in mind. Just a thought.

The quality of care here in the Seattle area is some of the worst I've encountered in my life and I've lived all across the country. I had better quality care in rural Alabama. Try to see a new doctor, 6 month waiting list. Go to urgent care, "oh we can't do that, you need to go to the ER." And then when you do find a doctor, if they graduated from the local diploma mill med school at UW, they only know how to read off of a computer screen. Thankfully my doc is good because I'm done.
